"She has a great attitude in work and a positive engaging personality outside of it."

— Richard Holland, Production Designer

Hi! My name is Danielle Bancroft, a recent graduate from the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, studying Film Production, with an emphasis in Production Design. During my time there, I worked on 14 college-level short films, serving as Production Designer on 7 and Art Assistant on 3. These experiences allowed me to translate technical skills from coursework into real-world production workflows, learning from challenges and continuously improving my craft.

The culmination of my studies was my senior thesis, Protégé, where I served as both Production Designer and Head of Construction. I managed a $9,000 budget, led a team of 20, and executed the construction of a two-room set on a sound stage. This role encompassed research, concept art, 3D and hand drafting, budgeting, scheduling, prop creation, team management, rigging, and more, giving me a comprehensive understanding of the production process from start to finish.

Beyond academic projects, I co-founded The Portal Productions, a student-led non-profit dedicated to providing students with real-world experience and businesses with affordable, high-quality advertising and marketing assets. This venture sharpened my client-facing skills, blending creative vision with branded content, and involved writing SOWs, managing invoices and budgets, hiring crew, creating pitches, and working effectively with cross-functional teams. It strengthened my confidence as an entrepreneurial freelancer and underscored the importance of team management, responsiveness to feedback, and strategic communication.

My interest in the intersection of art and business led me to a Stylist internship at Macy’s, where I contributed to campaigns from concept to deliverable. I gained valuable insight into adapting design to brand standards, navigating the hierarchy of a corporate studio, and understanding the fast-paced nature of commercial production.

Most recently, I completed a four-month contract with Well Told Entertainment in Business Development, leading outreach campaigns and providing SEO strategies. This experience reinforced the critical role of design in audience engagement and the importance of understanding target demographics when initiating creative projects.
